New blog, who's this?

After creating my first blog, Mocha Plays Things, a gaming-centered space about my experiences and interests in gaming, I decided to start this one: a more personal place to share my life and thoughts. I don’t plan to follow any kind of posting schedule; I’ll write when inspiration strikes, whether that’s once a month or once a year. Who knows? What I do know is that I’ve enjoyed blogging so much that I wanted a space that feels more like me, one that’s about my life, thoughts, and feelings.

So, what inspired me to start a blog? I’ve always loved writing, expressing myself, and creating little outlets for my thoughts. To me, blogging feels like keeping a public journal, something others can read, relate to, or simply enjoy. I just wish blogging hadn’t become such a lost art. These days, I don’t think this kind of blogging really exists anymore, or at least, not on a large scale. Modern social media has taken over, and people have stopped taking a slow, thoughtful approach to sharing. We’re all caught up in the rush of quick fixes through platforms like TikTok or Instagram.

Well, I say it’s time to bring back blogging, to make social media fun again. I want it centered on self-expression rather than audiences or monetization. So I’ll start, right here and right now.

    1. Yes, exactly! Bring back blogging! It would be so sweet if people started having their own personal dairies on the internet again! ♡ How and why did everything get so sterile and impersonal? 😔

  2. I love reading blogs, too. It takes more time to write and edit your feelings, but it’s worth it.

    1. I didn't realize there was such an active community on Blogger until recently, and it's been a joy to see everyone's different blogs and posts. It's been so much fun meeting new people and interacting with everyone's blogs!

    1. Hi, Donna. You are so welcome. It's so thrilling to hear that people, like you, have been blogging for so long! I couldn't believe there was still such an active and kind community on Blogger. I made my blog half-expecting it to not really go anywhere since I don't know anyone who blogs anymore and thought the only community and support I'd find was from my pre-existing friends who I'd talk about my blog with, whew, was I wrong! And I've never been so grateful to be wrong. Blogging is such a personal, fun experience and I'm a little sad that I didn't start sooner, but I am looking forward to where my blogging takes me.

  4. Hi, Mocha. Longtime blogger here who took a few years off due to the explosion of Facebook back a few years. I got fed up with social media and returned. Welcome. There is an active community, many are oldsters like me, but not all. I think the feeling you expressed is growing amongst your generation and I'm glad.Welcome to the fold.

    1. Hi, Sandra. I'm so glad you returned. Blogging is so much more personal and interesting than modern day social media. Each blog I've come across has been a beautiful expression of everyone's lives, thoughts, feelings, and interests, and I for one think it's so lovely to see people still taking to this medium. It's nice meeting you!

  5. Hello Mocha, thank you for coming to my blog and saying hello. I have enjoyed yours. I am 75 and not much into gaming but I will be interested in anything you have to say when you have time to say it. I have tried to follow new blogging friends but in the last year I keep getting a ‘failed to follow’ notice with everyone’s blog. I keep trying on every visit though and will always leave a comment.

    1. Hi, Denise! I loved reading your blog. It's interesting knowing what people get up to in their day to day lives, and I think it's so novel for there to be a community of us who write about it as a blog online. Super fun!

If you're struggling to follow people directly using their followers gadget, you can manually add peoples blogs onto your reading list through your blogs dashboard to follow them that way. Try that out and let me know if it works. Hugs!!
